More important than being close is to help those in need and TMN clients contributed with Euro 207,709 to help the victims who were struck by the tragedy which took place on the 26th of December in South-East Asia. The donation was handed to AMI, the Red Cross and “Médicos do Mundo”.

TMN clients and TMN helped those in need. In a wave of solidarity which swept across all TMN clients, Euro 207.709 were raised in order to help the Tsunami victims.
To this value, we also add a direct donation of 5 thousand euros from TMN, which totalled Euro 212,709.  These donations where delivered yesterday, the 16th of February to AMI, the Red Cross and “Médicos do Mundo”, three humanitarian associations that are working in the affected areas. Each association received a cheque in the value of Euro 70.903, and TMN took on the VAT responsibility, so as to be able to hand over the full contributions made by their clients.

TMN’s Chairman of the Executive Commission, Iriarte Esteves, stated that “our clients’ involvement in wanting to make a contribution was very enthusiastic and illustrates that both TMN and the Portuguese people are willing to help those in need”. Along with Iriarte Esteves, TMN’s Vice Chairman António Soares and Director Luis Ribeiro were also present at this ceremony. On behalf of the associations, Nogueira de Brito and Ricardo Coelho, Chairman and Financial Director of the Red Cross, Fernando Nobre, President of AMI, and also António Andrade from “Médicos do Mundo” were also present.
 
TMN also joined in other initiatives to help the Tsunami victims. In order to do this, TMN made the 12 700 number available so that clients could call or send an SMS through their mobile phone and support the cause in an easy and quick manner. Each call or SMS to 12 700 cost 1 euro.
