TMN and NOKIA got together for the launch of the first commercial service of video sharing in the world.

Nokia, market leader in the mobile communications and TMN mobile communications operator in the Portuguese market have announced the commercial launch in Portugal of the Video Sharing service with the Nokia IMS platform and the i9 3G Nokia 6680 equipment.

A world debut in Video Sharing with Nokia’s IMS platform as TMN is the first mobile communications operator to launch the service.

Video Sharing is a multimedia service for mobiles which allows the visioning of a video, in real time or previously recorded during a normal voice call.  According to the concept “see what I see”, users can begin video sharing during a normal voice call and get back to the latter after finishing the video in an easy and practical way.  Video Sharing is based on the standard technologies 3GPP and IETF.

A service possible through IP Multimedia System (IMS) technology which allows the establishment of IP connections person-to-person between terminals.  Nokia renders available a complete solution for multimedia communications supported on its IMS platform.

Video Sharing is available for TMN clients as of 21st June 2005, and will function on the new Imaging Smartphone i9 3G Nokia 6680, the first mobile equipment available on the market to integrate this innovative function.

The launch of his joint service with Nokia represents for TMN a decisive mark in the availability of innovative 3G services and reinforces the bet of both companies in the enlargement of the 3rd Generation within the national market.

The new Imaging Smartphone i9 3G Nokia 6680, was optimized to share images and includes two integrated cameras, flash technology and a high-resolution screen up to 262.144 colours.  Conceived for easy use, i9 3G Nokia 6680 has a vast range of features common to smartphones, including video streaming and Internet browsing with 3G specific functions, such as video sharing, simultaneous video calls and permanent e-mail connection.

The i9 3G Nokia 6680 costs 599,90 euros and TMN has, until 15th July 2005, a launch promotion “buy one take 2”.  The adhesion and use of Video Sharing has no costs until 31st December 2005.
