MegaRede, as it is called, hopes to be the largest service network in the country in five years’ time. Its main aim is to afford the so-called proximity commerce dynamics and revitalization, through the sale of new services and products that will complement the traditional activity of stores, via technology and networks based on the Internet and of easy use.

The brand MegaRede belongs to the project’s managing entity, Entigere, whose shareholders are the four corporate confederations – CIP, CAP, CTP, CCP, as well as PT, BPN, Millenium BCP, Unimark and a capital risk society. The largest service network in the country was announced on 15th March at CCB in the presence of the Prime Minister, the Minister of Economy and the Co-ordinator of the National Technological Plan. Two protocols were also signed, one with 23 partners who will render available their products and services at sites which have adhered, another with the shareholders.

Carlos Alves Duarte, Executive Chairman of PTPRO signed on behalf of the Portugal Telecom Group. “For PT it is important and gratifying to be able to contribute towards this project that will help to improve and modernize the small stores”, he says.
This was the first private project approved by the Government due to its technological innovation, modernization of the corporate activity and also due to its social nature. It will take off with 10 pilot stores in April in the Districts of Faro, Coimbra, Braga and Lisbon featuring around 30 of the most varied products and services, trips, books, mobile phones and where you can pay invoices and access a publicity channel.
“This project is a new attitude of small stores that fights info-exclusion and therefore adds value to society”, says José Socrates
In a few years’ time the most varied services will be performed in various stores. This will make life easier and more comfortable for all.
