PT massifies 4Mbps broadband access
Friday, May 26, 2006
The PT Group doubled Internet broadband access via ADSL and Netcabo to all residential clients. This way, the clients now have a 4Mbps speed as well as increase in national and international traffic
The increase from 2Mbps to 4Mbps is rather significant bearing in mind that merely 12 months ago the speed was of 512Kbps. This way, in only year, the speed of reference offer increased 8 times. This rise in speed is also accompanied by an increase in national (from 20 Gb to 40 Gb) and international (from 2 Gb to 10 Gb) traffic.

10 Gb | This measure was referred to yesterday by the Chairman of Portugal Telecom, Henrique Granadeiro, during his visit to PT Inovação and it featured a step towards broadband massification and the promotion of the information society. Speed at 4 Mbps is already available in 93% of the 430 thousand Sapo ADSL and Netcabo residential clients and total migration will be completed by the end of this month, free of charge and automatically.
Note that pertaining to prices and to reference offer, the PT Group affords one of the most competitive sale price to public in Europe – Euro 29,4 (VAT not included) when the European average is of about Euro 33 (VAT not included).
The PT Group has 965 thousand Sapo ADSL and Netcabo broadband clients within the residential and corporate segments.
For Portugal Telecom this measure meets the interests of the clients and promotes the information society amongst all the Portuguese.
