Many of us some day or the other dreamt of being a pilot. A fascinating profession where the sky is the limit. However, maybe only a few know the real difficulties in the life of a pilot. Many hours away from home is one of them and most probably the one that most influences the personal side of those who spend their days in the air.
OMNI pilots fly private planes all over the world. The period between taking off and landing can be of days or weeks depending on the client’s needs. During this period there is need for exchange of information between the pilot, the company, the other colleagues who are also flying and of course the family. Until now this information would be transmitted via telephone or fax, a more expensive and not always efficient means.
So, PT Wi-Fi established a partnership agreement with the aviation company in order to reduce costs and modernise operations and this way the pilots can be easily contacted. Each OMNI pilot will have a QTECK with pre-defined Internet Wi-Fi access and VOIP service.
PT Wi-Fi has over 15, 800 PT Wi_Fi Hotspots (in Portugal and abroad), located at the main airports and Hotels in Europe and in the rest of the world. At any of these places the pilots will be able to access the application with their PDA or see their e-mail, chat on Messenger, use VOIP or simply surf on the Internet always using the same technology and the same access account.
João Henriques, Commercial Manager at PT Wi-Fi, considers this agreement “an excellent case study for the company as it comprises mobility, ease, quickness and efficiency”.
Neville Rogers has been a pilot for some years and has transported many individualities. He assures that this equipment will make his life much easier, both at professional and personal level. “I have already tried the device and it seems quite easy to use. I will be able to communicate quicker and more efficiently with my colleagues and the company when I’m flying and the costs will be less”, he underlines.
Pedro Caneira, Marketing and Commercial Manager at OMNI has had this solution in mind for some time now. “Our communication operations needed urgent modernisation, so this agreement was all we needed”, he said.
