TMN offers a unique portal and tariff list to surf on the Internet wherever you may be. Internetnomóvel (Internetmobile) is yet another launch of TMN that wishes to revolutionise and massify Access to mobile broadband
“What TMN is going to present today will most probably open up a new dimension for Internet access in our country”. Zeinal Bava, Chairman of TMN, opened the presentation that took place at the TMN Conference Centre with these words. The PT Group mobile communications operator showed its most recent launch as pertains Internet which just comes to prove its leadership in innovation. According to Zeinal Bava the internetnomóvel serviceis one of the first to be launched at world level | According to the TMN Chairman, “we have innovated through the launch of new services and the segmentation of our offer because there are different needs. We are convinced that the options that we are choosing are rather positive”. A proof of these positive results is the increase in operational proceeds registered in the first quarter of 2007, in relation to equal period last year. With the launch of internetnomóvel “we believe that we can make Internet access via the mobile more popular”, said Zeinal Bava. Freedom, mobility, economy, simplicity and compatibility are the features associated to this new service. José Carlos Baldino, Director of TMN, disclosed how this new service functions by explaining that it comprises a “Internet portal/browser and a single data tariff list”. Within the features mentioned José Carlos Baldino highlights three that he feels make the difference in this launch: total freedom because via a portal the client can surf just like on the PC; secondly, cheaper in comparison with the current tariffs; and thirdly, compatibility.
In relation to the browser, the latter was developed for TMN by Opera Software Inc. and adapts the web pages to mobile format so as to “make the surfing experience more enjoyable”. The portal appears as an entrance door for the mobile internaut, with a SAPO browser and a directory with the most popular Internet links on the PC. “SAPO tried to gather a set of conditions to make the Internet more ‘user friendly’ and this was a way of enriching mobile users”, said Benjamim Júnior, responsible for the SAPO mobile area. The browser and the portal can be downloaded via SMS for free. For those who already have equipment with browser HTML, there is no need to download. Another new aspect is the single data tariff list via which the client can access the Internet and e-mail in a practically unlimited way. TMN presents two options, both with complete cost control:

An aspect that was referred in the presentation is the fact that the tariff lists are based on a policy of responsible use. Thus, monthly access considers a volume of traffic of around 100 MB and daily access of 10 MB. In any of the cases, the client is not “blocked” immediately. First he receives an SMS informing that he has reached the maximum volume of usage. In order to adhere to internetnotelemóvel just call 12300 and choose the most convenient tariff list. To encourage people to try this out, the first month is free of charge. According to Zeinal Bava this “is one of the first launches at world level. An Internet access for all the Portuguese at very tempting prices”. This launch is a result of the consolidated strategy that aims at placing state-of-the-art technology at the service of the Portuguese affording them the best cost-benefit relation, being the first in the world to try useful and innovate services and put behind the traditional ways of communicating. Luís Avelar, Director of TMN, said “we started looking at terminals in a different way. On the one hand we are segmenting” and we are also betting on exclusivity. “We are selling 20% more than last year.” “The logic is to try to make offers adequate for each client. An example is the campaign which is now being aired: the kitados, a vast range of services conceived to satisfy the communication needs of the youngsters’ segment”. “At this moment we have over 150 thousand clients with the Casa T service and we recently launched the fixed Casa T”, explained Rui Gonçalves, Director of TMN. Internetnotelemóvel once again recognises Portugal and TMN as a reference in relation to the realisation of innovative projects within the world mobile telecommunications. See you!
