PT discloses 1st quarter results for 2007

Today, the PT group disclosed the results of the first quarter of 2007. Highlight goes to the consolidated operational gains that increased 2.5% in relation to the first quarter last year and to the operational result that registered a 15.5% increase. Net results registered 177 million euros

Today, Portugal Telecom disclosed the results for the first quarter of this year which ended on 31st March. During this period the consolidated operational gains totalled 1.461 million euros, this is, a 2.5% increase on equal period last year. The operational result before amortization (EBITDA) increased 5.1% in relation to the first quarter of 2006, to 571 million euros and the operational result registered a value of 305 million euros, this is, a 15.5% increase.

Net results totalled 177 million euros and EBITDA minus Capex registered a 6.8% increase to 442 million euros. On 31st March 2007, net debt attained 3.646 million euros.

PT results were prepared in accordance with the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). Following the approval of the PT Multimédia (PTM) spin-off (PTM), at the Annual Shareholder’s Meeting on 27th April 2007, PTM was considered, for financial purposes, a discontinued operation.
