TMN launches ultra-portable PC with built-in 3G board
Friday, November 28, 2008
The mobile broadband leader launches today its first ultra-portable PC, featuring a built-in 3G board and a pay-as-you-go broadband tariff with a 2GB traffic limit (1 GB 3G plus 1 GB WiFi). TMN also announces the availability of the famous ‘Magalhães’ PC with mobile broadband for every Portuguese, costing 259.90 Euro Set on providing its customers with more and better tools for an improved control of the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), TMN presents a new Internet-ready PC model, with no need of an extra mobile broadband board: the Asus Eee PC 901 Go.

The advantages of the latest PC presented by TMN are, on the one hand, the association with the sales leader of ultra-compact PCs (Asus) and, on the other hand, the built-in 3G board enabling the subscription of any monthly TMN broadband tariff. For just 299 Euro, the Asus PC 901 Go, the latest ultra-portable PC from the sales leader in this category, features an Atom 1.6 CPU, 8.9” display, 16 GB SSD HDD (impact-resistant with less battery consumption), 1 GB RAM, webcam, card reader and Windows XP.

In order to make its offering even more transversal and global, TMN becomes the first operator to launch the portable ‘Magalhães’ PC to the consumer market at large, for 259.9 Euro, thus contributing to taking much further a PC conceived in the framework of the e.escolinha program, but presenting a number of features fit for every user.

Featuring an Atom 1.6 CPU, 8.9” display, 30 GB HDD, 1 GB RAM, webcam, card reader, Windows XP, Open Office, Diciopédia, Pack 60-minutes (60-minute computer introduction, 60-minute Internet, among other features), the ‘Magalhães’ PC is offered in association with any broadband tariff option presented by TMN.

New 30-day pay-as-you-go mobile broadband tariff

But as facilitating ICT access also means ensuring the provision of resources to meet different types of use, TMN extends its tariff options in terms of pay-as-you-go mobile broadband and presents a new tariff, also based on a no-commitments logic without monthly payments in which customers only pay what they use.

The new tariff, through a minimum 25-Euro top-up, allows customers a 30-day mobile broadband Internet access with a 1 GB broadband and 1 GB WiFi traffic limits. Each additional 10 Euro top-up allows additional 400 MB broadband plus 400 MB WiFi traffic limits over a 12-day period. Just call 800 96 10 10 or go to a TMN store to subscribe this tariff.

With this innovative launch of equipment and tariffs, TMN keeps leading mobile broadband in Portugal, assuming itself as the main driver of mobile broadband Internet penetration in Portugal.
