National exclusive rollout of JimJam channel on Meo

JimJam, the new children’s channel has just arrived in Portugal. Targeting children aged between one and six years old, this international channel offers a varied mix of new and classic cartoons. The national rollout is an exclusive for Meo IPTV and Satellite customers, starting on 28 November at position 43 of the programming grid, entirely spoken in Portuguese
Children’s favourites such as Thomas and Friends™, Bob The Builder™, Fireman Sam™, Oswald™, Rubbadubbers™, Kipper™, Igloo-Gloo™, Barney and Friends™ and Angelina Ballerina™, and a few recent titles such as Slim Pig™, Gazoon™ and Connie the Cow™ are part of the programming of the children’s channel now arriving in Portugal – JimJam.

Bob The Builder™ is one of the series on JimJam channel | This pre-school international channel, a joint-venture between HIT Entertainment and Chellomedia, is an exclusive national rollout for Meo IPTV and Satellite customers. As of 28 November the channel will be available at position 43, transmitted entirely in Portuguese from the first moment. JimJam channel will be available for Meo IPTV and Satellite subscribers up to 31 December, becoming part of the thematic packages after that date.
Created for children aged between one and six years old, JimJam offers a programming full of new and classic cartoons, made to attract, educate and provide a safe environment, of the utmost confidence for kids. The channel also proposes to stimulate children’s minds by transmitting programming blocks concentrated on colours, numbers and shapes.
According to Vera Pinto Pereira, TV Product Manager, Portugal Telecom, said that “JimJam consolidates Meo’s bet on content for children, featuring a quality offering, located and adapted to children’s needs”.
Wayne Dunsford, general-director of JimJam, stated that “launching the channel in Portugal is an important part of JimJam’s global distribution strategy at international level and we are eager to work with Portugal Telecom in the growth and development of this channel in the Portuguese market.
Louise Cottrell, vice-president, Sales, Chello Zone said that “Chello Zone is quite thrilled with JimJam’s recent rollout, following the launch of other thematic channels in Portugal, such as Extreme Sports, Zone Reality and Zone Club.
JimJam is available for pay-tv thematic operators from four independent feeds – Italy, pan-European, Middle East and Asia, this latter added quite recently. Since its launch in December 2007, JimJam has been one the fastest growing channels, being already available in over 20 territories, with new launches expected at the beginning of 2009.
