“A gift full of Christmas” for needy children

Campaign “A gift full of Christmas”, a joint initiative from TMN, Imaginarium and Caritas, transforms shoeboxes into gifts for needy children. This campaign, from children to children, starts on 3 November and invites families to bring a shoebox with small gifts to collection points throughout the country
Just imagine what fits into a shoebox! Besides a pair of shoes, there is also room for a small doll, some crayons, a domino set, an exercise book, a cap and a flashlight… Imaginarium’s new campaign, in partnership with TMN and Caritas, will transform shoeboxes into presents. The boxes can be filled up with small toys, later delivered to children supported by this institution.
TMN will contribute to divulging the campaign “A gift full of Christmas” through its network of stores throughout the country with racks and leaflets to make the project known.
Gifts should be delivered at an Imaginarium store throughout the country, from 3 to 15 November. On that date, the process of classification and gift distribution will start, in order to reach the children up to year-end. Much more than toys, this initiative aims to distribute a message of affection and hope to these children, making them feel important.
Luís Avelar, Board Member, TMN, says that “as market leader in mobile communications in Portugal, TMN is proud of becoming an important pivot in campaign “A gift full of Christmas” and thus contribute to making hundreds of children smile with more intensity this Christmas. By opening up its network of stores for the divulgation of this project, TMN participates directly in a cause deemed noble, putting its retail outlets at the service of a message that will potentially reach the universe of its over 6 million customers.
Imaginarium’s Country Manager in Portugal, Carlos Rúfat, says that: “At Imaginarium, we want to contribute to a better society. Therefore, we do not want to promote a mere toy collection campaign. We want children to have the opportunity of thinking about those who will receive their gift, cooperate in its preparation and learn how to put themselves in the place of others.
Eugénio Fonseca, Chairman of Portuguese Caritas stressed that: “More than a mere feeling, solidarity is a human value that makes us feel responsible for the well-being of fellow human beings. This value is not born with us, it is acquired from tender age, by sharing what we are and what we have.
Participating in this campaign is quite simple. You just have to follow the 5 steps below to ‘build’ a Christmas gift.
- Choose a shoebox. If it has a normal size, every child will receive a gift of the same size;
- Identify for whom the gift should go: boy or girl and the age. You can use an identification tag for that purpose;
- Fill up the box without forgetting a small note wishing a Merry Christmas. You should use small toys, but no food, fluids or dangerous objects;
- Replace the lid and tie it with a rubber band;
- Take the box to the nearest collection point.
Fill up your shoebox and change a child’s Christmas.
