PT launches meo in Portalegre

PT Comunicações launched in Portalegre, its triple-play service– meo – an integrated offer of television, internet and telephone, at one single price, one only invoice and integrated support. A new form of watching television where the user is the protagonist with control of contents and the way in which he wishes to use them and view them
meo is a new form of entertainment, of watching better television with more contents. Featuring over 80 channels, two of which in high definition, this service will in the future feature hundreds of channels.
As of now all residents in Portalegre can choose and control what they want to watch, view only their favourite channels and rearrange the channels according to their preferences. They can choose when to see the programmes through the digital video recording, which has 60 hours of storage capacity and access to a Video-on-Demand system that allows to view the films, concerts, series and documentaries from a library with over 800 titles.

In addition to these functions, meo clients can also have a better experience with television with the possibility of changing channels instantly or stopping a live broadcast and getting back to it at a more convenient time.
The base offer of meo will be composed by television with 42 channels, of which 32 are fixed and 10 are variable that can be changed monthly by the client who can choose another 27 channels (for 0,49€/month for each) and up to 9 Premium channels, such as SportTV. The base pack also includes broadband Internet access with speed up to 8 Mb, unlimited national and international traffic and wireless access in the entire house. The phone without subscription with unlimited calls at any hour within the PT network will also comprise this offer.
The meo service was developed together with various technological partners amongst which we highlight Alcatel-Lucent, in the integration and network Technologies and Microsoft in the platform technology that supports the television service. Other partners were also involved in this project, such as Novabase, PT Inovação, PT Sistemas de Informação, Harmonic, Cisco, HP, amongst others.
