The Culture Centre of Banco do Brasil in Brasília was the chosen venue of the meeting between Zeinal Bava and José Inácio Lula da Silva. The session lasted about an hour and enabled a discussion on the evolution of the telecommunications industry in Brazil.
According to PT’s chief executive, Brazil is essential for this telecommunications provider, being the company strategy based on a triangle: Portugal, Africa and Brazil. Zeinal Bava said that Portugal Telecom is pleased with the investment made in Brazil, which is a country of great potential.
During the meeting, the chief executive of Portugal Telecom offered two Cristiano Ronaldo shirts – one from the Portugal Team and another one from Real Madrid – to the Brazilian President with the following dedication “For President Lula da Silva with a hug from Ronaldo”. To celebrate this moment, a Sport Lisboa e Benfica shirt autographed by Eusébio was also delivered.
“PT has made a long-term investment in Brazil”, stressed Zeinal Bava during a press conference that took place after the meeting with President Lula da Silva.
It is worth recollecting that Vivo is the biggest mobile operator in the Southern Hemisphere with a footprint in every Brazilian state, being jointly owned by Portugal Telecom and Telefónica in equal shares. In Brazil, PT also owns Dedic, a contact centre company and a PT Inovação unit.
