Meo received ‘Brand of 2008’ award

On the seventh edition of the ‘Meios & Publicidade’ (Media & Advertising) awards, Meo was honoured with the ‘Brand of 2008’ award for the second consecutive year.
Anyone in the media and advertising industry wants to be included in the list of nominees. It was the seventh edition of the awards that brought the 39 winners of 2009 onto the stage of the Lisbon Congress Centre. Meo saw the recognition of its brand once again. “For a new brand such as Meo, which is only one year old, this award gives us the ambition to keep doing better. We’ll do it and we’ll be here next year", guarantees Luís Avelar.
The 2008 awards delivery gala took place in the evening of 28 May at the Lisbon Congress Centre. The event was presented by comedian Eduardo Madeira who entertained the gala. The organisation reserved a few surprises to be unveiled in the course of the evening, namely The Quartet of the Three Brothers Paul and Peter and comedian Luís Franco-Bastos.

Luís Avelar received the Best Brand' award, given to Meo. | Altogether, there were 39 honours distributed in the Media, Marketing and Advertising categories. The choice of the winners was made by the subscribers of the “Media & Advertising” magazine, each subscription corresponding to a vote. Check the list of winners here.
According to the words of PT’s Board Member, “the credit of this award goes to an excellent team that shares the same ambition every day: to keep making Meo the best brand. It is a deserved honour and the whole team should be congratulated.”
Meo, an ‘honoured’ brand
With only one year of existence, Meo has been distinguished with several awards. A recognition of the work developed throughout last year, which made Meo a trusted brand and the most recalled one throughout 2008.
At the Creative Club Festival, it got Gold in the Advertising category, in the area “Best Integrated Communication” with a campaign signed by MSTF Partners, and also Gold in the Media category in the area “Best Solution for Creative Multimedia Use”, with campaign ‘The media control is Meo’, from Espaço OMD. It also got Bronze for the Best Use of Press with ‘Meo an inverted newspaper’, a work developed also by Espaço OMD media agency.
At the Effectiveness Awards, Meo got triple Gold in categories Advertising Effectiveness– Telecommunications and Media, Media Effectiveness – Services and the Grand Prize for Media Effectiveness.
The Media & Advertising Awards
The Media & Advertising Awards are an initiative of the Meios & Publicidade magazine, specialised in the communication industry, owned by Workmedia group. They were created in 2002, aiming to honour the Advertising, Marketing, Media, Communication and Production areas. This year’s edition had a new category: new agency.
