Zeinal Bava and Filipe La Féria see this partnership as an ambitious bet to bring culture to more Portuguese |
The curtains are drawn and the performance starts at the Meo VideoClub. As of today it will be possible to watch the plays of Filipe La Féria again and again, wherever you are, whenever and however you wish. This is because Meo and Portugal’s major theatrical producer have established an exclusive partnership to make available at the Meo VideoClub the great musicals produced by this stage director.
The promotion of the Portuguese culture and language is one of the goals of this exclusive partnership between Meo and Filipe La Féria that will enable access to PT’s pay-TV subscribers to all great hits of the producer. According to Zeinal Bava, chief executive officer of PT, the work carried out by Mr. La
Féria in the promotion of show business in Portugal is a huge success. Therefore, “it is an honour to have his musicals available at the Meo VideoClub, thus enabling the Portuguese to access these wonderful performances”.
Among the plays of the author, works such as ‘Amália’ and ‘My Fair Lady’ stand out, two plays that are already available for all those who were unable to watch them live or for those who wish to watch them once again. There are other three plays due to arrive soon, but for the younger audiences: ‘Star’, ‘Alice in Wonderland’ and ‘The Girl from the Sea’. Apart from these, several ‘Making Of’ versions will also be available, notably ‘La Cage aux Folles’, currently on stage at Politeama Theatre.
Filipe La Féria thinks that this successful partnership will work as an “open window to the big classics. Whoever has seen them, may see them again. Who has never seen them, may finally get to know them.” According to the producer, the plays
available will reach all kinds of audiences from children to adults, which will contribute to “arousing the curiosity and interest in attending a live performance”.
All musicals will have a rental price of €2.5, as the ‘Making of’ versions will be listed in the Cost-Free area without need of a rental to be viewed.
The chief executive of PT highlights Meo’s bet in terms of culture, but most of all on contents in Portuguese language. He recollects that Portugal Telecom has always bet on ‘portugality’, visible through Sapo, the partnerships established, and more recently by the exclusive launch of SIC K on Meo.
As of today La Féria productions, which have captivated thousands of Portuguese, will be available 24 hours a day, any day of the year for all those wishing to attend an unforgettable show.
