Vivo posts 120 percent profit growth in 2009

Vivo’s profit more than doubled in 2009, showing a 120 percent increase y.o.y.

This company, in which PT has a 50 percent stake, posted a net profit of R$  857.5 million - €336 million – which represents a 120 percent increase y.o.y.

Last year’s revenues increased by 5.9 percent y.o.y. EBITDA grew by 7.2 percent to R$ 5,210 million i.e. €2,150 million in 2009.

It is worth mentioning that Vivo acquired circa 6.8 million new customers, which means a nearly 51.7 million customer base, i.e. a 29.75 percent market share.

As to pay-monthly cards, the operator’s market share is 32.2 percent, thus maintaining its leadership in the Brazilian market.
