The competitors had the opportunity of making available their widgets – applications used to adapt internet content to the operating systems of mobile phones – at website http://developers.tmn.pt/, from March to June 2009.
From hundreds of applications, the 22 best widgets were selected by a PT jury, according to criteria in terms of quality, reliability, usability, relevance of functionalities, contents and layout. The authors of the best works will receive prizes such as notebooks, electric guitars and mobile phones.
TMN and SAPO started by raising the awareness of the community of developers concerning the importance of developing widgets for mobile phones in the scope of the third edition of Sapo Codebits, which took place in December 2009. One of the novelties of this showcase of national and international talent in the domain of computing programming was precisely the opportunity given to the 650 participants present of developing applications and widgets for mobile phones and thus applying for prizes for the authors of the Best Application and of the Best Widget.
Apart from promoting the fixed-mobile convergence through the ‘Developers TMN’ contest, TMN and SAPO contribute to giving projection to the technical and creative skills of the community of Portuguese developers and programmers and promoting the appearance of new talent in the domain of information and communication technologies.
