The good sustainability practices of Portugal Telecom contributed to its recognition by the Enterprise and Organisation Citizenship Award.
In the 4th edition of the Enterprise and Organisation Citizenship Award, the good sustainability practices of Portugal Telecom contributed to make it the winner in the Technology, Information, Communication and Entertainment sector. This is an award that aims to honour companies and Non-Governmental Organisations for their contribution for the improvement of their sustainability and the community where they operate at economic, environmental and social levels.

Prize awarded to PT | Carlos Alves Duarte, Board Member, PT, received the prize awarded to PT and highlighted the importance of this honour. “For us, this is the recognition of what has been a continued strategy on the path of enterprise sustainability. I remind that we are present at the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index and the FTSE420, our service offer has been becoming more sophisticated, we have reduced our carbon footprint, we have participated in countless initiatives of school, social and professional integration and we pioneered telemedicine in Portugal”, he stressed.
The Awards delivery ceremony to companies and ONGs took place on 16 November at AESE, having been presented by Fernanda Freitas. After the winners have been disclosed, Eugénio Viassa Monteiro spoke about the “Challenge of citizenship for today’s leaders”.
The initiative, promoted by AESE (Management and Business School) and by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), aims to recognize the most successful companies and ONGs in the application of their social responsibility policies, in their economic, social and environmental components.
Carlos Alves Duarte stresses that winning the Enterprise and Organisation Citizenship Award “shows us that we are on the right path, that it is a bet of the Group that will proceed in order to become a national and international reference in terms of sustainability”.
