CST tops 100,000 mobile customers
Tuesday, December 28, 2010
CST, the telecommunications operator of São Tome and Principe has topped 100,000 mobile customers, reaching a 60% penetration of the population.

This increase is the result of a 25% increase in the customer base in 2010, after a 60% increase in 2009.

It is worth highlighting that, in the beginning of December 2010, CST developed the Customer 100,000 initiative, under the motto “The CST family has nearly 100,000 members, so become yourself number 100,000”, to celebrate this milestone. Customer Joceney do Nascimento Quaresma was the happy winner of a mobile phone and a PC with a free monthly traffic allowance for a year.

PT and the State of Sao Tome have 51% and 49% holdings in CST respectively, an operator with 21 years of activity, whose main area is the mobile service, launched six years ago, standing for 60% of revenues. In 2010, the company enhanced its network, having schedule the launch of 3G service for the third quarter of 2012, at the time of the inauguration of the underwater intercontinental fibre-optic cable (ACE consortium – African Coast to Europe).

The 100,000 customers of CST’s mobile service demonstrate another important milestone in the history of the telecommunications operator of Sao Tome and Principe. CST repeats thus its commitment to making available to the market and to the population of the country the same level of services and solutions existing in more developed economies, contributing to the development and competitiveness of the country.
