SAPO Awards: the creativity race has got winners already

"The Big Creativity Race" has got winners already. The 10th edition of the SAPO Awards has new categories and more honours. The value of the registrations was given this year to CEDEMA, a solidarity institution.

"The Big Creativity Race" has got winners already, an event that was presented by Fernando Alvim and was held on 23 November at LX Factory, in Lisbon. Altogether, there were 41 advertisers and 24 agencies that received awards in this race.

Abílio Martins, Board Member, PT, underlined the importance of SAPO to the growth of the digital medium, reinforced by the SAPO Awards. The truth is, he says, “”we were sure and we have been sure for many years”, about our bet in this domain.

In the 10th edition of the SAPO Awards, PT also had winners. In the Telecommunications and Internet category, Meo got Gold with the “meo experience” campaign, from MSTF Partners agency. In the Media and Education category, SAPO, as an advertiser, got Bronze, from Excentric agency, a campaign which was also the winner in the Grand Prize SAPO Users category. In the Entertainment and Shows category, Bronze went to the SW TMN 2010 campaign, from MKTM agency. In the Best Rich Media category, the winner was the SAPO Simulator campaign, from WayNext agency.

The Grand Prize SAPO of the Jury was won this year by Proximity_Digital. This agency had five nominations, which it won, as well as the Grand Prize of the Jury. There were plenty of reasons for André Vasconcelos, creative supervisor,  and João Correia, project manager, to celebrate the awards won by Proximity_Digital.

 “We were quite glad, we are very proud”, revealed André Vasconcelos, as the awards represent the culmination of a year with lots of work in the agency. The entire team should be congratulated”, João Correia adds.

The creative supervisor and the project manager also thank the organisation: “It is gratifying to watch our works exhibited here and verify that  you have a good opinion about them”, reveals João Correia. André Correia, on his turn, asks SAPO to keep up with its good work, divulging the digital medium as the future lies in the digital.

The jury also awarded three acknowledgement prizes: Creative Agency of the Year, won by Fullsix Portugal, Media Agency of the Year, won by Media Contacts SA, and Advertiser of the Year, won by LG.

New categories, more awards
New categories were introduced this year, such as the Grand Prize Sapo Mozambique, which comprised the works registered and made known in Mozambique, won by the Institutional campaign of the BCI Bank, from Sapo Mozambique agency.

Abílio Martins reminded that this was the second consecutive year that SAPO extended the borders of the prizes to award the advertisers who have made a success out of SAPO’s international challenges in emerging markets, such as the Africa.

Prizes per Format have also been awarded – Best Display, Best Rich Media, Best Video-Ad, Best Mini-Site, Best Institutional Site and Best Blog (see the winners below). SAPO honours thus the creativity and adaptation of advertising campaigns to new technological processes and at the same time becoming a reference in Portuguese-speaking countries.

The Sapo Awards had more than 2,600 works enrolled since 2001 up to now. PT’s Board Member congratulated the entire team, responsible for the organization of the SAPO Awards, for the excellent job done. The congratulations were extended to all Sapo employees in general for the goals achieved, at several levels.

A socially responsible motivation
The full amount of the registrations, Euro 12,826 will be given to CEDEMA – Association of Parents and Friends of Mentally Impaired Adults, a non-profit Private Social Solidarity Institution, founded in 1982 by parents who feared that their children would end up alone, unaccompanied throughout their lives.

 At the moment of delivery of the check to the Association, Abílio Martins stressed that this is not a contribution from SAPO, but from all those present at the Awards.

On her turn, Maria Antónia Machado, chairwoman of CEDEMA, thanked the contribution, which will be forwarded to the construction of the “Telhadinho” Home, an ambitious and polyvalent project that comprises a home, two residences and a daytime centre, thought out to respond to the needs of sheltering and occupation of mentally impaired people, but at the same time avoiding their exclusion and isolation.

SAPO implements thus its Social Responsibility policy, through a gesture that has become usual in the last few years.
