Confidentiality and security of consumer data, access and traffic protection to the database information, as well as confidentiality of telecommunications content, are areas safeguarded by PT in order to respect the freedom and basic rights of each individual.
Today’s easiness to access and to make available contents is stimulating, contributing also to bring people closer as well as providing more diversified sources of knowledge. Nevertheless, we aknowledge that this reality causes concerns related to the misuse of theses potentialities by segments of the population with less critical and/or selection capacity to choose contents suited to their interests.
Given that this is a sensitive theme and developments are fast, PT is engaged in national and international foruns on this issue and has been implemented the best practices for data and client privacy and protection. In 2009 PT signed a collaboration protocol with a scientific computing organization to monitor the safety of communication contents and networks.
Simultaneously, PT promotes initiatives to raise population awarness for the responsible use of communication contents, provides guidelines of equipment use, parental control software and teaches awarness courses in schools accross the country.
